The main difference lies in the application system, the drying or curing method and the type of job each is designed for. Overprint runs through conventional offset; water-based applies in a coating unit inline or offline; UV and UV LED cure by energy.
It depends on the substrate, the final use and the technical requirements. For a box that ships and sits on a shelf, the high gloss A900 or the high-wear A800-1 covers most cases. For pre-print packaging that sees heat, A1600.
Gloss, matte, semi-matte and combined effects. The matte A200 handles the soft end, the A600 and A900 the shine.
